The Bills are trading away a late 2026 draft pick for some depth on special teams and defense.
Buffalo has finalized the following deal with the New York Jets:
- Acquired cornerback/returner Brandon Codrington and a 2026 7th round pick from the NY Jets for a 2026 6th round pick.
Codrington originally signed with the Jets as an undrafted rookie free agent this offseason. The rookie played college football at North Carolina Central.
Codrington flashed during the preseason thanks to a 63-yard kick return against the Panthers. He will wear No. 29 with the Bills.
At North Carolina Central, Codrington ran four returns back for touchdowns (three punt return touchdowns, 1 kick return touchdown). Two of those punt return touchdowns came last season. He averaged 19.7 yards per kick return and had 61 punt returns for 789 yards during his collegiate career.
On defense, Codrington racked up 93 tackles, 10 passes defensed, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and two tackles for loss in his four years with North Carolina Central.
The rookie earned BOXTOROW HBCU All-American and first-team All-MEAC honors in 2023.
