Buffalo began free agency by addressing the cornerback position. That effort continued on Wednesday when the Bills signed free agent CB Phillip Gaines
Gaines, 27, served the past three seasons as a Chiefs reserve cornerback. This past season he was behind starters Marcus Peters and Steven Nelson on Kansas City's depth chart.
He did start three games for the Chiefs last season, due in part to Nelson being placed on injured reserve.
Gaines posted 30 tackles and three pass breakups for Kansas City in 2017.
A former third-round pick of the Chiefs in 2014, Gaines provides depth for Buffalo's secondary behind projected starters Vontae Davis and Tre'Davious White.
