The Bills added some depth to their defensive line Saturday, signing free agent DT Kellen Heard.
Heard (6'6", 355) was signed off Oakland's practice squad after originally signing with the Raiders as an undrafted rookie free agent last spring.
He finished his college career at Memphis after spending his first three collegiate seasons at Texas A&M. Heard played both offensive and defensive line as a senior at Memphis. He made the transition to offensive line with the Tigers, playing in nine of 11 games at right tackle, while seeing action in the final four games of the season on the defensive line, posting six tackles.
A very strong anchor type interior defensive lineman, Heard will add size to Buffalo's nose tackle position.
To make room for Heard on the roster the Bills released LB Thomas Williams. Williams was promoted to the active roster on Nov. 27 and appeared in two games for Buffalo. He was originally signed to the team's practice squad Oct. 12.
