The Bills brought back a familiar face on Wednesday to fill a vacancy on their practice squad. Buffalo signed free agent safety Brett Johnson. Johnson was originally signed by the Bills shortly after the 2010 NFL draft as a rookie free agent.
Johnson (6'1" 194) lined up at free safety during OTAs and minicamp in the spring, but was released by Buffalo in late June and did not make it to Bills training camp in the summer due to a surplus of safeties on the roster.
The Cal product spent time in training camp with Philadelphia and St. Louis, but did not land on either team's roster to start the season.
Johnson fills the practice squad vacancy left by fellow undrafted rookie and safety Dominique Harris, who was signed to Tampa Bay's active roster on Tuesday.
