Less than a week before the NFL draft the Bills are still tinkering with their roster. On Friday they were awarded a waiver claim for S Trae Elston.
Elston (5-11, 193) is a safety by trade. The Ole Miss product was signed as an undrafted free agent last May by the New Orleans Saints. Released by New Orleans during final cuts in early September last fall, Elston was signed to Tampa Bay's practice squad midseason.
After being released a month later he signed to Cleveland's active roster. Waived by the Browns in Week 15, the club signed him to their practice squad and then signed him in January as a reserve/future free agent.
Elston was just released by the Browns on Thursday.
A four-year starter in college for the Rebels, Elston is known as a hitter who can make plays on the ball after he returned a pair of interceptions for touchdowns as a senior.
