Bills coaches free to seek other positions

Buffalo's front office wasted little time to make things clear to the current coaching staff at One Bills Drive. The team informed the staff that their obligations to the team for the 2009 season have been completed.

Each of the coaches though currently still under contract, have been informed that they have the opportunity to seek positions elsewhere. The official status of each coach will be determined by the Bills new head coach following the completion of the process, if they have not already found new work.

Perry Fewell remains a candidate for the position of Bills Head Coach along with a list of additional possible candidates.

Most of the assistants had served for the past four years under former head coach Dick Jauron, who was relieved of his coaching duties on Nov. 19. Under Jauron the team went 24-33 in three-plus seasons and 3-4 under Fewell in the last seven games of the 2009 campaign.

After interviewing Fewell, the Bills GM will begin the task of interviewing outside candidates for the vacant head coaching position, as the organization prepares to hire their fourth head coach in 10 years.
