Fantasy football is no doubt one of the favorite parts of the football season for fans and this year Bills season ticket holders were offered the chance to participate in an exclusive fantasy football league with weekly prizes and incentives.
After 16 weeks of grueling competition, Jon Roller, a season ticket holder since 2004, was awarded the inaugural grand-prize winner among 610 season ticket holders.
"It was a pretty competitive league at the start," said Roller. "It came down to a four-to five-team race at the end of the regular season and throughout the playoffs."
Roller told buffalobills.com that his main strategy throughout the season was to stay consistent at the quarterback and wide receiver positions.
"I had strong quarterbacks (Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers) and wide receivers all season long. That was my big thing. The best move I made was trading for Adrian Peterson in week seven, before he went on his hot streak. When I made the trade I was in fourth place."
During pregame of the Bills-Jets game, Roller and the other 60 Fantasy League Champions were awarded a specially created trophy on field.
"This was my first time on the field-standing on the turf and being that close with the guys. It was really neat to see everyone," said Roller.
As the overall winner, Roller was also the Leader of the Charge, waving the Bills flag atop the M&T Bank tunnel during the player introductions.
Roller enjoyed the 28-9 Bills victory in a suite with nine friends.
"I never thought I would be able to do it," he said. "It was a once in a lifetime experience."
Details on how to join the B.E.S.T. Fantasy League will be made available in prior to the 2013 NFL season.
