The Bills are making a clear effort to survey the free agent landscape at inside linebacker early. A day after hosting Baltimore free agent LB Jameel McClain at One Bills Drive, Buffalo welcomed Arizona free agent LB Jasper Brinkley to the facility Thursday.

Brinkley (6-1, 252) is a four-year veteran who played for the Cardinals last season appearing in 15 games in a part-time role that included three starts. The 28-year old lined up mainly at inside linebacker in Arizona's 3-4 front.

He was released by the Cardinals this past Monday as part of a salary cap purge by Arizona.

Brinkley's best season was in 2012 when in 15 starts for Minnesota he posted 99 tackles and three forced fumbles as the team's middle linebacker.

The linebacker was originally a fifth-round pick of the Vikings in 2009.
