Bills launch 'Seeing Red' campaign

The Buffalo Bills are asking the city of Buffalo to turn red Thursday night.

In conjunction with the National Football League's Color Rush campaign, the Bills will wear all red uniforms for the first time in the team's 56-year history when they face the New York Jets on Thursday Night Football this week.

The Color Rush uniform, designed by Nike, combines current and historic uniform colors and designs into one new uniform honoring the franchise and energizing the fan base. The NFL introduced a sampling of Color Rush uniforms unveiled this season on Thursday Night Football in 2015, with the full lineup unveiled in 2016 for all 32 teams.

The Bills will unveil the 'Seeing Red' campaign with a commercial spot featuring All-Pro defensive end Mario Williams. Color Rush red jerseys, sweatshirts, hats and t-shirts are available for purchase at the Bills Store at Ralph Wilson Stadium and online.

The entire city of Buffalo will play a role in supporting the 'Seeing Red' campaign with a number of city landmarks lighting their buildings red as part of this initiative. On Thursday, November 12 the following landmarks will be illuminated red – The Peace Bridge, The Buffalo News headquarters, Buffalo Niagara Convention Center, (716) Food and Sport, the Phillips Lytle Building and HARBORCENTER.

Additionally on Thursday, the Bills will auction off a limited number of autographed red jerseys and other autographed red items via Bills Experience, available only on the Bills Mobile app. Proceeds from the auction will go to The Salvation Army Buffalo and support the 2015 Red Kettle campaign.

"This partnership between the hometown Buffalo Bills who support the community in so many ways, and the local Salvation Army who have cared for the neediest of the community for more than 130 years, will help support individuals and families during this holiday season," said Major Thomas Applin, executive director for The Salvation Army Western New York region. "The Red Kettle collection is a critical funding source for The Salvation Army and is a part of providing support to over 34,000 individuals each year."

Throughout the Western New York region, The Salvation Army staff and volunteers bell ring at the iconic Red Kettles during the holiday season.  The funds raised stay local and support programs offered in that geographic area.  The Salvation Army provides services that shelter the homeless, feed the hungry, provide aid for victims of disaster, protect survivors of abuse, train the unemployed and enrich the lives of youth and seniors.
