As the Bills start their practice week for their Monday Night Football matchup against the Jaguars, head coach Sean McDermott has ruled two defensive players for the game.

Bills CB Taron Johnson (forearm) and LB Terrel Bernard (pectoral) will not suit up for Monday's game, McDermott confirmed Wednesday.

Last Friday, McDermott said the team will not be placing Johnson on injured reserve and are still gathering information on Bernard. That has not changed going into Week 3.

"No new information right now," McDermott said of Bernard.

Third-year linebacker Baylon Spector will get the start at middle linebacker in place of Bernard, with second-year LB Dorian Williams starting at weakside linebacker.

"It's an opportunity for Baylon and Dorian to work together, like they did in the back half of the game, or really, the majority of the game the other night," McDermott said.

Defensive ends Dawuane Smoot, Javon Solomon and Casey Toohill will practice this week, and the team is taking it "one day at a time" with their potential availability for Week 3.

The Bills injury report will be updated after Wednesday's practice.
