1. What inspires John Miller to give back
Since he was drafted to the Bills in 2015, guard John Miller has taken an active role in the community. Over the past few years, Miller has hosted several events that not only showcase his dedication to the area, they provide opportunities for youth – some of which they may not have otherwise. When asked what motivates him to do so, Miller, who recently hosted a backpack giveaway at the local Northwest Buffalo Community Center, reflected on his own experiences.
"I was fortunate enough to have 100 bookbags to have a bookbag giveaway at the Northwest Buffalo Community Center," said Miller. "It was a good opportunity just to give back to the kids [and] give back to the community because when I was growing up I didn't have that opportunity. I know that some of those kids come up in different types of situations and don't really have a lot of financial support, so it's always good to give back to the community and especially the youth."
During his visit, Miller had the chance to bond with the youngsters, while helping them prepare for the 2018 school year.
2. Shaq Lawson's big day off
This week, Shaq Lawson also spent his day off supporting a good cause.
Teaming up with the YMCA Buffalo Niagara, Lawson helped 50 local kids get ready to go back to school. The kids, who participated in summer camps and after school programs at the YMCA's William-Emslie branch, each received a backpack filled with school supplies. The kind gesture was well-received by the youngsters, who were excited to meet Lawson.
