The ankle injury that has kept Marshawn Lynch on the shelf since the preseason opener may finally be subsiding. Though it was just a walk through practice for the Bills on Monday, Lynch did take part in conditioning work at the end of the hour long session.
"He did some running afterwards and he kept up with everybody else, which is important," said head coach Chan Gailey. "We'll know a lot more (Tuesday) when we have a real practice."
When asked if he thought Lynch had a chance to play in Thursday night's preseason finale, Gailey answered in the affirmative.
"Oh we plan on him playing," said Gailey. "Yeah, no question."
Lynch said he felt good running after the walk through, but wasn't certain about Thursday.
"Right now I don't know," Lynch said. "I've been talking to the trainers and right now their focus is just to get me running so we'll see what their thoughts are about playing."
Lynch has been out of action since the preseason opener at Washington when he sustained an ankle injury on the team's first offensive series. Fellow running back Fred Jackson was injured during that same possession.
Both backs have stated that they're targeting the opener to fully return, but it appears as though Lynch stands a good chance of being in the lineup Thursday night.
