In the wake of LeSean McCoy being declared out for Sunday's game against the New York Giants, the Bills have promoted RB Cierre Wood from their practice squad.
McCoy is sidelined after trying to play through a hamstring injury that he aggravated in the week leading up to Buffalo's Week 3 game against the Dolphins. Wood first joined the team on Aug. 19th when the Bills experienced a rash of injuries at the running back position during training camp.
In three preseason games for the Bills, Wood had 17 carries for 64 yards (3.8 avg.) and four catches for 45 yards. He was released during final cuts, but was signed to the team's practice squad Sept. 6th.
Wood is expected to serve as the team's third running back Sunday behind rookie Karlos Williams and veteran Boobie Dixon.
To make room for Wood on the roster the Bills released DT Andre Fluellen.
