The contract for all intents and purposes was a formality. But that formality was taken care of Tuesday as exclusive rights free agent Eddie Yarbrough signed his one-year contract.
Yarbrough, who turns 26 later this month, has played each of the past two seasons for the Bills as a rotational defensive end. A high motor, high-effort player, Yarbrough contributed 28 tackles on defense last season, including four tackles for loss and a quarterback hit. He also played a role on special teams.
The Bills tendered Yarbrough with a qualifying offer earlier this offseason as an exclusive rights free agent, which essentially tied him to the club for another season.
With Yarbrough back in the fold, Buffalo now has five defensive ends on the roster.
