Bills, Red Cross Partner to aid Sandy victims

sandy-relief-story.jpg

In lieu of the disastrous damage that Hurricane Sandy brought, the Buffalo Bills and The American Red Cross need your help.

The storm caused power outages and flooding in many areas, which will most likely result in the cancellation of additional blood drives and platelet donations throughout the week.

The American Red Cross is encouraging blood and platelet donations in the wake of Sandy. Additional donors are needed to make up for the shortfall caused by the storm. Hurricane Sandy forced the cancellation of almost 360 American Red Cross blood drives in 13 states and the District of Columbia, resulting in a shortfall of nearly 12,000 blood donations thus far.

The Red Cross is encouraging blood and platelet donations in areas unaffected by Sandy and asks that community members consider donating blood in affected areas once it's safe to do so.

Give blood to The American Red Cross, and help those in need. *Text REDCROSS to 90999 ($10 donation) or visit **www.redcross.org* to make an appointment.
