The Bills extended one of their draft picks from the 2021 class on Friday afternoon. Right tackle Spencer Brown has signed a four-year extension that will have him playing in Buffalo through at least 2028.
"It's one thing to get drafted, it's another thing to get to a second contract," Brown said. "There's a lot of stepping stones and learning, you have to go through that, especially in younger years, and then just doing the same thing, day in, day out, and hopefully it pays off, and you're doing the right things."
"And then [Brandon] Beane in the front office, showing belief in me that I was doing the right things. And I told Beane 'I went from proving everybody wrong, and now I gotta start proving everybody right.' So I look forward to that."
Brown started in all 17 regular season games at right tackle for Buffalo last season. The offensive line he was a part of in 2023 allowed the fewest amounts of sacks (24) in the league.
"Just my routine, and what I was doing kind of just fully clicked for me from what I was doing day in and day out, and then now I'm on the same schedule as I was last year," Brown said. "It's legit, just doing the same thing every single day, every single week, and then don't look too far ahead in the future. Live it day by day and that's why we're here."
Brown, along with his line, also helped running back Jame Cook rush for 1,122 yards last season which ranked second in the AFC. The RT has started in 41 games and played in 44 since 2021. He has also started in every playoff game he has appeared in (6) in his three years in the league.
Brown was originally drafted by the Bills in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He played collegiately at University of Northern Iowa.
"Buffalo's the city for me," Brown said. "Fans are absolutely unbelievable. It's what showing up to work every single day, that much better when you have fans, backing you 100%. And then, just along with everybody that we have in the locker room. I don't think that the vibe that we have in the locker room and the relationships that we have are going to be seen around the NFL a lot."
