Bills sign WR Jackson

Knowing their numbers were low at the receiver position, the Bills made one player signing at the position earlier this week and followed up two days later with another. Buffalo signed free agent Chad Jackson Wednesday.

"The Bills had been looking at me for a while and I had the opportunity to come up and get a workout in and they obviously liked what they saw," Jackson told Buffalobills.com.

Jackson is excited about the chance to work with head coach Chan Gailey knowing he'll be running the offense.

"I've heard a lot about coach Gailey and the things he can do on the offensive side of the ball," said Jackson. "I'm looking forward to working with him. He's the type of guy that if you can make plays he's going to get you the ball."

The wideout is a former second-round pick of the New England Patriots (2006) where he spent his first two NFL seasons. Jackson was used sparingly as a young player with New England recording 13 receptions for 152 yards and three touchdowns.

He signed with the Denver Broncos in 2008 appearing in four games. Jackson (6'1" 215) made the Broncos opening day roster last season, but was released two days later.

"I've got a lot of speed to me and a lot of size to me and I can make plays in the open field," said Jackson. "I can make a lot of things happen."

The receiver had a productive college career at the University of Florida. His last season for the Gators he set the school record for receptions in a season with 88.

Jackson becomes the sixth member of Buffalo's receiving corps after Felton Huggins signed with the club on Monday. And though he's one of the few wideouts on the roster with three or more years of NFL experience he's taking nothing for granted.

"I've got a good opportunity ahead of me signing with this organization, but I have to prove myself to the coaches and coach Gailey," said Jackson. "Once I do that I think everything will work out real well."
