The connections between the Bill and Steelers are many. Here's a rundown of some of the links between the two franchises, inlcuding comment from GM Doug Whaley on a return to his hometown.
WHALEY'S FEELINGS ON GOING BACK TO PITTSBURGH
"It's going to be an intense feeling. I've never been an opponent in that stadium, I've never been to the visitor's locker room. It's going to be strange. All homecomings are nice; I'm going to see a lot of people. My wife's family is still there. But it's going to be an interesting feeling to walk on that field and be an opponent.
WHALEY: PITTSBURGH IS LIKE BUFFALO
"It's very similar to here in Buffalo. It's all they think about-their sports teams. And football is one of their major sports teams, and they've had a lot of success there. When you're little, it's all about football, baseball and hockey, the black and gold, and all of their teams are black and gold."
WORKING WITH STEEELRS
"A lot of ticket requests. Besides that, it's a dream come true. You have something truly invested every time you walk through those doors. I had invested not only my heart, but my head, but I felt like I needed to do my best for everyone who looked out for me and supported me since I was in high school."
WHAT HE LEARNED FROM WORKING IN THE STEELERS ORGANIZATION
"That's the one thing - be under the radar. Be behind the scenes. Don't make it about yourself. And the other thing I learned was pay attention to details. And that's a thing that Coach [Marrone] talks about. If we pay attention to the details on and off the field, it's going to make those times when you need a big play easier to make."
