The NFL announced that Bills FS Jairus Byrd has been added to the 2013 AFC Pro Bowl roster.
"I'm just really excited and I thank God for the opportunity," said FS Jairus Byrd. "It'll be really special to join my teammates C.J. (Spiller) and Kyle (Williams) in Hawaii. I'm looking forward to playing in the game and the entire experience because I didn't get a chance to do so in my rookie year (2009). It'll be fun to experience the Pro Bowl for the first time."
Byrd tied for the AFC-lead with a team-best five interceptions in 2012 and made 76 tackles (53 solo). He received AFC Defensive Player of the Week accolades in Week Six after registering two interceptions, four solo tackles and two passes defensed in the team's 19-16 overtime win at Arizona. Since entering the NFL as a second-round draft pick of the Bills in 2009, Byrd is tied for third in the NFL with 18 interceptions.
Byrd was named to the AFC Pro Bowl roster in place of Baltimore Ravens FS Ed Reed. This will mark Byrd's second Pro Bowl honor (2009) and he will join teammates RB C.J. Spiller and DT Kyle Williams in the 2013 Pro Bowl.
