Buffalo's penchant for adding cornerbacks to their roster continued on Thursday with the signing of free agent Greg Mabin.
Mabin, 22, was waived by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last month. He had signed as an undrafted rookie with the Bucs after the 2017 NFL draft, but after a hamstring injury limited him in the team's rookie minicamp he was released.
A two-year starter in college at Iowa, Mabin (6-2, 200) is a long cornerback who posted 144 tackles, three interceptions, 19 pass breakups, a pair of forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. He saw a lot of passes thrown his way playing opposite Desmond King, a fifth-round pick of the L.A. Chargers.
Mabin is also young at the cornerback position having only played there since 2013 when he was converted by the Iowa coaching staff after joining the Hawkeyes as a wide receiver.
To make room on the roster for Mabin, the Bills released safety Jonathan Dowling.
