ORCHARD PARK, NY – The Buffalo Bills today announced that David Lee has been hired as the team's quarterbacks coach.
Lee, who was the Bills quarterbacks coach in 2012, enters his 11th season in the NFL and his second season with the Bills. He returns to Buffalo after spending the past two seasons as the New York Jets quarterbacks coach.
During his time with the Jets, Lee oversaw QB Geno Smith—who in 2013 became the first rookie quarterback in team history to start all 16 games and became the first quarterback since the merger to record four game-winning drives in the fourth quarter or overtime in his first seven career games.
In 2012 with the Bills, Lee guided QB Ryan Fitzpatrick to a personal single-season best 24 touchdown passes—which marked the fifth-most by a Bills signal caller.
As the Miami Dolphins' quarterbacks coach from 2008-10, Lee guided Chad Pennington (2008) and Chad Henne (2010) to 3,000-yard passing campaigns.
Lee's first stint in the NFL came with the Dallas Cowboys as the team's offensive quality control coach from 2003-06 and added quarterback responsibilities in 2005. In his four years with Dallas, three different signal callers reached the 3,000-yard plateau in a single-season.
Lee was a three-year letter-winner at quarterback from 1972-74 at Vanderbilt.
