ORCHARD PARK, NY – The Buffalo Bills announced that LB Andra Davis was selected as the team's Ed Block Courage Award winner.

The Ed Block Courage Award is presented to the Buffalo Bills player who exemplifies a commitment to the principles of sportsmanship and courage. The recipient symbolizes professionalism, great strength, dedication and serves as a community role model for others.

Davis will take part in the 34th annual national Ed Block Courage Awards Foundation ceremony on March 13, 2012 at Martin's West in Baltimore, MD and he will be honored with the 31 other award representatives from each NFL team.

Davis is in his 10th NFL season and second with the Buffalo Bills.  In 2009, Davis started four of his first six games in Buffalo before being placed on injured reserve on November 8, 2010 with a left shoulder injury. After eight months of rehabilitation from a labral tear, Davis returned to Bills training camp in 2011.  He was voted one of the team's six captains for this season.

Off the field, Davis is a standout in the Buffalo community.  For the past two seasons, he's served as the team spokesman for the Verizon Wireless HopeLine cell phone collection program.  The HopeLine program provides wireless phones and funding to domestic violence agencies nationwide.  Davis has donated 20 season tickets to the Wounded Warrior project in each of the past two seasons.

In 2010, Davis spearheaded an initiative to provide Thanksgiving meals for the Valley Community Center in South Buffalo.  Davis and his teammates and coaches also provided gifts to a group of students from the International Preparatory School at Glover during the holiday season.  He also hosts an annual football camp in his hometown of Live Oaks, FL.

The award is named for Ed Block, the former Head Athletic Trainer of the Baltimore Colts from 1954 through 1977 and continued to serve the team until his death in 1983. Block, a WWII veteran, cared for his player's physical health as well as for the well being of countless children. The Ed Block Courage Award Foundation promotes the prevention of child abuse by raising awareness of the epidemic and assisting agencies who provide for the care and treatment of abused children in communities throughout the National Football League (NFL). That objective is coupled with the Foundation's commitment to celebrating players of inspiration in the NFL. http://www.edblock.com/index.htm
