Another step was taken Friday in getting Buffalo's 2014 draft class under contract. Fifth-round pick Cyril Richardson signed his rookie contract with the Bills ahead of the holiday weekend.
The two-time Big 12 Offensive Lineman of the Year lined up at guard in his senior season at Baylor and that's where he was during the team's recent rookie minicamp. Richardson (6-4, 343) is a mountain of a man who can drive defensive players off the line of scrimmage.
Set to begin OTAs next week, Richardson just wants to earn the respect of the veteran linemen on the roster and is confident his four years of college ball will serve him well.
"I'm used to knowing everything about the line, everything about my opponent and that level of competition that I faced is just going to help me here," he said. "The plan is to try to get them to trust me, and hopefully love me so I can compete for these guys."
Richardson is the fifth member of Buffalo's draft class to sign, joining third-round pick Preston Brown and a trio who all signed on the same day: DB Ross Cockrell, LB Randell Johnson, and OL Seantrel Henderson. Only the Bills top two draft choices, Sammy Watkins and Cyrus Kouandjio, have yet to agree to terms on their rookie contracts.
