The Bills turned another page on their offensive line Thursday placing veteran guard Richie Incognito on the reserve/retired list. So what does it mean for Buffalo's offensive line, specifically at the guard position?
Right now, Buffalo has five other players who have guard experience on their resumes.
Vladimir DucasseThe 30-year old started at right guard for 12 games last season for the Bills. Though it took him some time to get acclimated to his new teammates, come the second half of the 2017 season, Ducasse played some of his best ball.
Ryan GroyThough Groy is expected to compete for the starting center job left vacant by the career-ending neck injury sustained by Eric Wood, he has experience at guard. He has appeared in 40 NFL games with 11 career starts.
John MillerMiller served in a reserve capacity for the first time in his career in 2017. Prior to that, Miller was a three-year starter at right guard, logging 32 career starts, including four last season at right guard.
Marshall NewhouseNewhouse was signed to compete for the starting right tackle job with Jordan Mills and at the very least serve as a swing tackle for the Bills in 2018. Incognito's retirement however, could make him part of a competition at guard, where he has some limited experience.
Adam RedmondHe appeared in four NFL games last season for Indianapolis, and has good length for guard at 6-6 and 290 pounds. Redmond will likely be part of a competition, but wouldn't be seen as a favorite based on his lack of experience in comparison to the other candidates.
Armed with nine picks in the 2018 NFL draft, Buffalo certainly has the ability to add an influx of talented youth at guard. This also is considered to be a good draft class for interior linemen with as many as 15 guards with draftable grades according to most draft prognosticators.
