QB JP Losman
PM Practice – August 8, 2007
On playing 10-15 plays Friday…
Well, we just want to go out there and be crisp. We know it's going to be our first game but we're going try to obviously avoid any kind of complications. We want to go out there and be sharp. The plays that he's giving us, I'm sure they're going to be pretty vanilla, so we just want to be sharp on those and just keep the chains moving. A good drive of 10 to 15 plays and he said we'll be out of there.
On the opportunity of going back to the same city where he played in college…
It's not a real game. It counts let me tell. It means a lot to our team to go out there and play a preseason game. Like I said, we want to be sharp, we want to go out there and look well. It's going to be on national TV. There's going to be a lot of Buffalo fans watching the game so we want to put on a good show for them the little bit that we're in there. Like I said, as far as New Orleans, I've got a lot of roots there, a lot of friends, a lot of family there. So it will be good for them to see me play even if it just for a little bit.
On what it would mean to him to have a second receiver step up behind Lee Evans…
I don't know what the exact formula is. I would like to have more guys, the more, the better. Right now, we have a lot of guys doing a lot of great things. It's not just Lee (Evans). Like I said, it is Peerless (Price), it is Roscoe (Parrish) and it is Josh (Reed) that is going to be carrying a lot of the load. We know that Lee's going to get double covered a lot and a lot of teams go to him but that's when Marshawn (Lynch) will come in to play as well. People are going to start paying more attention to him running down the middle of the field, running down on outs. People are going to have to pay attention to him because he is going to get open.
On how fast Marshawn gets in to the hole…
Pretty fast depending on the hole. He can hit you outside pretty good with a change of some blocking schemes because he was getting out too fast. That's all positives. He's hitting the hole pretty hard and you don't want to put too much on him. We want to just give him some so he doesn't hit that rookie wall and he hasn't shown any signs of that so far.
On if he is excited for the first preseason game…
Yes, you just have to remind yourself to slow down, just to relax especially going home into a New Orleans type of area where I do have some roots. I do have to actually concentrate on slowing down even more and just calming down. It's going to be fun, it's going to be smooth and we're going to move the chains.
On getting to play against a team other than in practice...
It gets frustrating out there. There's been some -- not hitting -- but some pushing, some shoving. Guys are getting frustrated. They want to let lose and they're pretty much animals when they step on this field and that's what this game is about so they'll be able to get their chance on Friday.
