Hall of Fame quarterbacks Jim Kelly of the Buffalo Bills and quarterback Dan Marino of the Miami Dolphins were on the football field together again, but this time they weren't slinging passes against each other. Instead, they were at Rogers Centre to support youth football in Toronto on December 3rd and help preview Canada's first NFL regular season game, which will see Kelly's Buffalo Bills, take on Marino's Miami Dolphins on Sunday, December 7.
Kelly and Marino made a trophy presentation, performed a coin toss, met and posed for photos with fans and talked football with players competing in the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) Bills Toronto Series Football Bowls (consisting of five games – the Western Bowl, Northern Bowl, Golden Horseshoe Bowl, National Capital Bow and Metro Bowl). The five bowl games encompass ten teams and all games were played in one day on December 3rd at Rogers Centre.
The Bills Toronto Series is a proud and enthusiastic supporter of amateur football across Ontario. "The Bills Toronto Series has given high school football in Ontario – and the grassroots football community as a whole – a real boost," said Mike Thorpe, OFSAA. "Playing in the Rogers Centre gives young football players an incredible championship experience to work towards."
