LINEBACKER MARCUS BUGGS - 8/2

LINEBACKER MARCUS BUGGS

Practice – August 2, 2008

On how his practice went today

I feel that I got pretty comfortable out there today. I feel like I'm doing pretty well. I have a few little corrections to make, but I feel like I'll be all right.

On having live contact in practice

It's always good to come out and hit. That's the fun part of the game for me and that's what I like to do. I have to learn to be patient and to wait for when the hitting time is right.

On how he thinks he's playing so far

I feel like I'm coming along pretty well. I'm just trying to make sure I'm covering all of my bases on the defensive side of the ball. And on the special teams' side of the ball, that's going to be a big part of me making this team. I'm just trying to make sure I'm knotted up in all areas.

On if there's a mentality to playing special teams

I think you do have to have a special mentality. People are running full speed at you from 50 yards away. You have to block them, hit them, tackle them…it takes a special kind of personality to do that. I played some special teams in college, I enjoyed that.

On the upcoming game against the Redskins

It'll be my first NFL game. I'm really excited for it. I'm going to take this next day and a half off, get my body back right because I'm a little sore. I'll rest up and be ready for Monday.

On the differences between college and the pros

The biggest change, as far as I can see is the coaching. They're real big on the particulars, getting to certain spots and taking certain steps. I realize all of this stuff matters because it's a game of inches, and if you're a couple inches off, you miss the play.

On how often he looks at his playbook

Everyday, during meetings, out of the meetings, before I go to bed, all day.
