ORCHARD PARK, NY – The NFL has announced that Bills DT Marcell Dareus, DT Kyle Williams and DE Mario Williams have been selected to the 2015 Pro Bowl.
Marcell Dareus will be making his second consecutive Pro Bowl appearance after he earned Pro Bowl honors as an alternate last season. The fourth-year defensive tackle leads all NFL defensive tackles this season with 10.0 sacks, in addition to accumulating career-highs in both quarterback hits (13) and tackles for loss (12).
The 6-3, 331-pound Alabama product entered the NFL with the Bills as the number three overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. Since entering the league, Dareus has the second-most sacks amongst all defensive tackles with 28.5 quarterback takedowns—trailing Cincinnati's Geno Atkins by just half a sack.
Kyle Williams, one of Buffalo's six captains in 2014, has recorded 5.5 sacks to go along with 41 tackles (29 solo) and 14 quarterback hits. A reliable anchor for the Bills run defense, Williams has tallied eight tackles for loss.
A 6-1, 303-pound Louisiana State product, Williams entered the NFL as the first of Buffalo's two fifth-round (134th overall) draft picks in 2006. In his nine-year career, Williams has registered 545 tackles (332 solo) and 34.5 sacks in 129 games played with 124 starts. His 34.5 sacks rank as the most sacks by a defensive tackle in franchise history.
Williams will be representing the Bills in his third consecutive Pro Bowl appearance and fourth overall (2010, 2012, 2013).
Mario Williams has enjoyed one of the best years of his nine-year career in 2014 and his first season as a team captain. Highlighted by his 3.5 sack effort in Week 10 versus Miami, Williams has accumulated 13.5 sacks through the Bills' first 15 contests. Williams has joined Bruce Smith (1989-90, 1992-93, 1995-97) as the only Bills to have back-to-back 13.0+ sack seasons.
A 6-6, 292-pound North Carolina State product, Williams is in his third season with the Bills. He entered the NFL as the number one overall pick of the Houston Texans in the 2006 NFL Draft. Over his nine-year career, Williams has started each of his 129 career games played tallying 90.0 sacks, 367 tackles (291 solo), 16 forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries, 21 passes defensed and a touchdown. The selection marks Williams' fourth Pro Bowl appearance (2008, 2009, 2013).
The Pro Bowl will be played on Sunday, January 25, 2015 and televised live on ESPN at 8:00 PM ET from University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona, site of Super Bowl XLIX.
The Pro Bowl will be "unconferenced" for the second consecutive year.
