The Bills will just wait to see how the top eight unfolds and then select the best player on the board. The Bills are going with the run-heavy philosophy with EJ Manuel at quarterback, which could make right tackle a much bigger value in their eyes. Matthews is a technically sound, under control offensive tackle that can play at a high level on both sides at tackle. This would be considered a "safe" pick, because you know exactly what you're getting in Matthews. He would slot in immediately as the starting right tackle, and could shift over to the left side if Cordy Glenn ever struggles.

The 6-5, 231-pounder could be the perfect solution to Buffalo's passing woes. Most importantly, he'd be a major upgrade in the red zone for a team that didn't have anyone catch more than three TDs in 2013.

Given the talents of Mario Williams and Marcel Dareus, it might not appear to make sense for the Bills to continue to add to their defensive line but the road to the AFC East title still is predicated on stopping Tom Brady. Barr's length and athleticism make him a potential Pro Bowl edge rusher. Those don't last long on draft day.

What seems to be the likely loss of Jairus Byrd could force the Bills to hunt for a Round 1 safety, either here or after a trade down. Yet, sooner or later, this team needs to find more oomph on offense — EJ Manuel's future depends on it. Ebron would offer a dynamic option in the passing game.

The story sounds too good to be true: local college player stays in town to be the outside force the Buffalo Bills need. But if Khalil Mack is available at pick No. 9, he should be the man for the Bills as they look to catch the New England Patriots in the AFC East. Mack has the edge ability to be a force for the Bills in passing situations, but he also showed good ability when unprotected against the run. Mack will struggle when asked to cover-up (line up in front of) the tackle, but that's not his game. He's a weakside linebacker with pass rushing skills and the instincts to dominate. A young roster in Buffalo breeds the type of "best player available" pick that this is, and it would work well for helping to complete the team's defense.

From Buffalo to Buffalo; Bulls to the Bills. They're building a scary defense in Buffalo and it gets scarier with a talent like Mack. I still think Eric Ebron is a very real possibility here.

The Bills hit on both Robert Woods and Marquise Goodwin in last year's draft, so receiver isn't a top priority in any scenario. But the way this board breaks, with the draft's two best offensive tackles and two best linebackers already gone, Buffalo's best choices in terms of need might be Michigan tackle Taylor Lewan, North Carolina tight end Eric Ebron or a top-rated safety like Ha Ha Clinton-Dix of Alabama. But either the explosive Watkins or the big-bodied Texas A&M receiver Mike Evans would be another weapon in second-year quarterback E.J. Manuel's arsenal, and there's no such thing as overkill in that regard.

EJ Manuel obviously should receive another season as the starter. With that said, there might be questions beyond that point. Head coach Doug Marrone has a history with the offensive line. I am a big fan of Cordy Glenn, and it appears teams view Jake Matthews at multiple spots along the front five. Some have mentioned Matthews could make a move to center. It could be true, but I do not think a team will be in a position to take Matthews if they want to do so as a center.

Not many massive offensive tackles move as easily on their feet as Robinson. Combine that with his strength to dominate and torque defenders off their feet, and he has all the tools to be a frontline player. |
