The Bills effectively ended one of their position competitions Tuesday as the club released P Brian Stahovich.
Stahovich had been in competition with incumbent punter Shawn Powell. Powell performed admirably in Sunday's preseason opener against the Colts finishing with a net average of 43 and a long of 55.
Powell was the more physically gifted punter and just had to demonstrate a level of consistency in his kicking to hold onto the job. He also showed well on some holds for the field goal kickers handling a couple of snaps that weren't on target.
