A day after seeing a specialist for his injured hip Erik Pears is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game at Houston.
"Erik Pears did not practice and he's doubtful for the game," said head coach Chan Gailey. "We're going to see if he can move around at all around game time and make a decision."
Gailey indicated that Pears underwent treatment of some kind during his visit to the specialist Thursday.
"They did something yesterday and we're seeing if that takes any effect and then we'll make a decision later."
If Pears cannot go Chris Hairston would step in at the right tackle position and draw the assignment of Houston DE J.J. Watt, a Defensive Player of the Year candidate.
As Gailey sees it there won't be any drop-off with Hairston in the lineup.
"It's probably number of snaps in games during the season. That's the only difference to me right now," said Gailey. "I trust Chris at right tackle a great deal."
McGee still hobbledVeteran cornerback Terrence McGee is still hobbling through practice with his surgically repaired knee still not responding sufficiently.
"Terrence did a little bit today and we're listing him as doubtful and we'll see if he can get anything going on game day," Gailey said.
If McGee winds up being inactive for Sunday's game Leodis McKelvin could see work at the left cornerback position as a rotational player subbing in for starter Aaron Williams at times.
"We've been working him there and we've given him some reps at the corner position and we'll see how the game goes," said Gailey. "We don't have a plan in place right this second. We're going to see how the game goes."
