It was shaping up to be a very productive season for Stephon Gilmore. Unfortunately it was derailed by a shoulder injury and the cornerback's 2015 season will end prematurely. Gilmore was placed on injured reserve by the Bills on Tuesday.
He sustained a shoulder injury back in the Week 13 win over the Texans while trying to make a tackle. That injury will require surgery, which forced the Bills hand in making a roster move for the final three weeks of the season.
Buffalo used Gilmore's open roster spot to sign DE Max Valles. Valles (6-4, 250) was signed off the Oakland Raiders practice squad where he has spent his entire rookie season. The defensive end was a sixth-round pick of the Raiders this past spring out of Virginia.
Leodis McKelvin is expected to be Gilmore's replacement for the final three games of the season. He started in place of Gilmore this past week at Philadelphia.
Gilmore finished the season with 36 tackles, three interceptions and 18 pass breakups. His pass breakup total of 18 was tied for third in the NFL this season when he sustained his shoulder injury two weeks ago.
