Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott gave updates Monday on the team's extensive injury report as they head into the final week of the preseason.

The following players are expected to be out multiple weeks with injuries:

  • QB Mitch Trubisky (knee)
  • WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling (neck)
  • TE Quintin Morris (shoulder)

These players are considered week-to-week:

  • S Damar Hamlin (hamstring)
  • WR Curtis Samuel (turf toe)
  • LB Baylon Spector (calf)

On a case by case basis, McDermott added that safeties Mike Edwards and Cole Bishop, along with LB Nick Morrow, will do walk-throughs & individual drills in practice this week. OT Travis Clayton remains out, WR Lawrence Keys is "improving", and DE Casey Toohil is hopeful to return later this week. DE Javon Solomon and DT Austin Johnson will be limited in practice this week.

According to McDermott, the Bills are currently exploring options when it comes to adding another QB to the roster; Trubisky started the Bills preseason game against the Steelers with QB Ben DiNucci checking into the game at the end of the first half. DiNucci was signed to the roster just last week in the wake of Shane Buechele's neck injury that landed him on IR.

"We're working on it. I know Brandon (Beane) is working on it with his staff, so it is something we can keep our eye on for sure and we'll continue to do that," McDermott said.

Starters will rest in preseason finale

In the wake of a mounting list of injuries, McDermott said that the team's starters will not play in this weekend's preseason finale against the Panthers.

"Initially the plan was to play the ones this week, but because of the injuries and the lack of availability, we're going to take the ones out, play the other guys, take a good look at them, it should be a good opportunity for them to put their best foot forward and for us to have a strong evaluation of that part of the roster," McDermott said.

The Bills will face the Panthers at Highmark Stadium this Saturday at 1 p.m.
