Buffalo Bills RB C.J. Spiller
On how disappointing the loss was…
I mean of course it was disappointing whenever you lose a game, especially a division game. We're a much better football team than what we displayed today. Just the turnovers, the big one that I had with the pass. That was huge. We could have probably gotten some points out of that. I think if we just clean that up, I think we'll be fine. The main thing I told the guys that I kept preaching on the sideline is that we can't let this one loss define our season. Of course we wanted to win, but we didn't. We can't let this one loss define our season. We just have to correct the mistakes and get back to work and get ready for Kansas City. Of course, it hurts. The guys in the locker room, everybody's hurt because we wanted to win it, but we can't do anything about it now.
On if he agreed on the referee's fumble call…
I didn't think it was, but the refs, they call what they call. I didn't think I totally had possession of it, but I just have to do a better job of bringing it in. My quarterback did a great job of putting it right where he's been told to put it through training camp and in preparation for this game. It's my job to bring it in so I can't leave it up to the refs. I just have to get better at that this week and the rest of the season.
On what he saw during his touchdown run…
Well, my offensive line did a great job of hitting those guys up and (forming) the seam that I had to keep the front side from the blitz that they were bringing. The receivers and tight ends were doing a great job blocking downfield. We always said it's going to be one man that we have to beat. I saw 30 (LaRon Landry) and the way he was trying to play it, I just knew I had a chance, got running and broke a couple of tackles and was able to get in the end zone.
On how hard it was to fall behind 21-0…
I mean it's hard when you fall behind 21-0, but we fell in that position against New England and we were able to climb our way back and win the game but, unfortunately, today we didn't. We don't want to be in those positions anymore so we'll just look at the film and clean up mistakes and get ready for the next opponent.
On stepping up to be the starter with the injury to Fred Jackson…
I think I prepared myself. I had a great offseason. A full, true NFL offseason. It hurts to have our leader go down, especially the leader in our running backs room. We're always preaching, the next man has to step up. I'm looking forward to it and hopefully get 22 (Fred Jackson) back as soon as possible.
On if he felt confident that he could step in when Jackson got hurt…
I always have confidence. It's just having opportunities. Like I said, my offensive line did all the work. Today, I pretty much just tried to run fast and make a couple guys miss.
