HEAD COACH DOUG MARRONE
On how much easier it is to win in the NFL when your defense gets six takeaways…
"We had 20 points off of the turnovers and we all know, probably of all the statistics, that's the one that really means the most. I was happy about that. We had the potential to get some other ones out there. I thought we did a good job on the offensive side of not turning the ball over. We haven't been doing a very good job of that in these past couple of weeks, so we put a major emphasis on it. Not to say that that should get it done, obviously turnovers are so big, but I was happy to get out of there with no turnovers."
On winning on the road with two of his team's best players injured…
"This is tough. New York, when you look at them, they play their butts off, play extremely hard, they're very difficult, they're very physical of a team. To be able to come in here and win obviously is not an easy thing. I give our guys credit. They were able to do that. We won a quarter, which I think is important. It puts us in a decent position, but make no mistake about it we've got to clean some things up. We've got to get rested up. Then, we've got to come back and we've got a tough road right off the bat with a Sunday game and a Thursday game."
On what he told to Sammy Watkins after his premature celebration…
"There were a lot of people who were upset. We weren't hurt by it, because we were able to come back and score. I really don't expect a guy like Sammy to ever do that again. Obviously, we've talked about that before. Make sure that ball's in the endzone. We've all seen the plays in the history of the league. I think from where I'm sitting, I grabbed him and told him to come over, and I told him, I said there were people on that sideline, meaning his teammates, that were upset. We're playing our butts off. We don't have time for stuff like that. Those are the things that we have to work on, winning and growing up."
On Buffalo's defensive performance…
"They come off the bat, they got the turnovers. We were playing well. They made the switch at quarterback. I think we had them at some times, I thought Michael Vick did an excellent job of scrambling. We gave up some big runs. Defensively, I thought they just kept coming. We had to make a couple of changes. Jim (Schwartz) and the coaches and the players did a good job of the game plan, when Michael Vick went in there. I thought we did a good job with that. And then the use of Percy Harvin, so we wanted to make some changes with what we were doing there once we felt we had a good beat on it."
QUARTERBACK KYLE ORTON
On scoring 43 points...
"It was a good team win. Obviously our defense put us in good position to score against a tough Jets defense. We were able to take advantage of the opportunities."
On leading the young players on offense...
"I know I have to play smart and play well. I don't know everything. I think we are doing a better job with our preparation during the week. We are really putting in the work it takes to win football games. When you don't have the veterans to show you the way, it is tough on young players. They think they are doing things the right way but it's hard for them to know if they are."
On taking big hits during the game...
"Anytime you play a defense like that it's going to be a tough game. Quarterbacks get hit just like everyone else. Coach's message today was to play physical. It's part of the job description. You have to take a big hit and come back on the next play and throw a big pass."
On how he feels heading into the bye week...
"We feel great. We were 3-1 in the second quarter of the season with a couple big wins including a division win on the road. It's a great chance to get away from the game for a minute, but we know we fought hard to put ourselves in a good situation. We have to take advantage of it."
WIDE RECEIVER SAMMY WATKINS
On getting a touchdown after he was caught from behind on the long pass play…
"It was a relief. We scored off the drive and I would have been devastated if we didn't score off that drive. It would have been a totally different game. It was great that the team came down to finish the drive. I got a lot of feedback from the coach just warning me to finish the play and to not let it happen again."
On if his teammates will address his early celebration…
"I'm going to get in trouble from my coach. Something will happen."
On breaking his record for most yards during a game…
"It feels great. We just played as a team today. The defense did their job and the offense did great. Ultimately, we got the win."
On if the team is in a groove…
"NFL is week-by-week. We just have to play the right way and have to come back prepared after this next week off."
On Kyle Orton's performance…
"He is a veteran quarterback. His poise is great. He leads us every week and makes the passes that he needs to make. He has been great for us."
On the win…
"It was great. I thought our defense played great for us. We had great field position every time, so it was kind of easy on our part. We just took care of the ball and executed our plays. Kyle and the offense as a whole, we took care of the ball – no fumbles and no picks. If you do that and they have seven or eight turnovers, then you should win."
DEFENSIVE TACKLE KYLE WILLIAMS
On his feelings of the game being a one-score game at half...
"I think we started off really well. We talked about starting fast and we did. We make some big plays, got some turnovers and created some pressure. They made the switch at quarterback and to his credit he made some plays. He didn't do anything we hadn't seen but we were prepared for QB Geno (Smith). It took us a little bit of time to adjust. It was frustrating. There was a lot of talk about it in the locker room at halftime. We came out in the second half and really responded well."
On where the team is at being 5-3...
"So far, I really like how this team responds. It's different than teams we have had in the past, when they have had adversities come up. They played hard, but didn't use it as a catalyst to go on and win the football game. In the past, things have happened and we used it as a crutch. If that wouldn't have happened, we would have won the game. Guys here just keep battling. We will enjoy our Bye Week. We have guys that need to get healthy, myself included. And get ready for the second half of our year."
On feeling of having a good QB... "I think defensively we know that if we can keep the pressure on, if we can create turnovers and continue to get them the ball, something is going to break. They are going to make some plays. With Fred (Jackson) and (C.J. Spiller not in, we are missing those two big pieces. We have some good, young receivers. Kyle (Orton) knows where he is going with the ball. I think he has really motivated those guys more than anybody else on the team."
