Week 1 of the NFL season is finally here. Below, find out who the national media are picking between the Bills and Jets for this week.
Offensively, the Jets aren't ready for this game. QB Josh McCown played only three series in the preseason and his two most accomplished receivers, Jermaine Kearse and Jeremy Kerley, arrived only this week. The offensive line, which also didn't get a lot of quality reps, will struggle against Buffalo's front four. The Jets will struggle to score, and their defense will wear down in the fourth quarter after being on the field so long. Bills 24, Jets 13 -- Rich Cimini
There isn't much statistical track record that is relevant in making this projection because the Bills have a first-year coach (Sean McDermott), a new offensive coordinator (Rick Dennison) and a new defensive scheme and secondary. But I was impressed by the Bills' first-team defense this preseason, which allowed a total of nine points on 16 opponent possessions. As long as they continue that trend against McCown and the Jets' uninspiring offense, this should be a win for Buffalo. Bills 17, Jets 10 -- Mike Rodak
Buffalo has been breaking bad with some of the late preseason news, but it's still not close to what happened downstate with New York's AFC East fire sale. Tyrod Taylor and LeSean McCoy up and running together are plenty to ground the Jets' defense, and Josh McCown just can't keep up against a Bills defense that will be motivated to make it a winning debut for Sean McDermott. Bills win 24-13.

... With Tyrod Taylor back at quarterback, the home team should be OK. The Jets already look hellbent on getting the No. 1 pick. Bills 20, Jets 13.
This is definitely one of those 50-50 games. Both the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills have pretty good defenses. Both are fairly strapped when it comes to weapons on the offensive side of the ball.
It does appear that Tyrod Taylor will be able to start at quarterback for the Bills, which is good news for Buffalo fans. However, I'm still going to go with the Jets here. The New York offense has looked good when Josh McCown has been under center. The Jets defense is still pretty special, even after trading away Sheldon Richardson.
In addition, I believe Todd Bowles is more desperate at this point in his career than Sean McDermott is. It's more important for his job security to win in Week 1. The Jets go into Buffalo and win a close one. Jets 20, Bills 17
Bills 17, Jets 14
MDS pick: Bills 17, Jets 7
Florio's pick: Bills 24, Jets 9
Bills 23, Jets 17
