The fourth annual Buffalo Wellfest continued its tradition as Western New York's largest and most comprehensive healthy living exposition when they hosted their second series event on May 15 at the Buffalo Bills Fieldhouse.
The event, sponsored by BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York, featured over 100 healthy living provider exhibitor booths, complimentary health screenings (blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, vision, bone density and more), a healthy living food court including food tastings from some of Buffalo's finest eateries, main stage demonstrations, Health Matters slide shows and raffle prizes.
The Bills Fieldhouse held a plethora of wellness providers including everything from physical fitness to spray tanning to traditional and non-traditional medical providers. The event was open to the public and included Bills football interactive games and other great family wellness activities.
"We've got such a wonderful variety of wellness providers," said Nancy Murphy, Harmony Expositions president. "We really hope that eventually Buffalo won't be just noticed for its weather and wings but about the wellness that we all embrace."
One of the goals of the event was to educate individuals and their families in fun ways about wellness.
"I would hope everyone walks away with one nugget of wellness that they embrace and that they incorporate into their daily lives, said Murphy. "If they do just one thing at a time, it's amazing what kind of major changes it can make on people's lives."
"We came here today just to learn about the services that Western New York offers for us for healthy living and eating, just to keep a healthy lifestyle," said Latrisha Barr of Buffalo. "It was a great time to come out and spend with the family and come to the Bills stadium. There was wonderful stuff for the kids too. They played football and learned all about healthy eating."
