Bills RB James Cook was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week after a three touchdown performance in Week 2.
This is Cook's second AFC Offensive Player of the Week award- he also won it in week 15 of the 2023 season.
In the 31-10 victory over the Dolphins, Cook did it all, accounting for three touchdowns, two on the ground and one receiving, along with 78 total rushing yards and 95 overall yards from scrimmage.
Preparing on a short week, Cook was ready to go to play the Dolphins.
"Just the preparation that happened over the week," Cook said. Just a quick turn around, got my body together and just prepared myself, and good things happened today."
"James just continues to grow and get better," head coach Sean McDermott said after Thursday's win.
Cook found the end zone early for the first score of the game when he caught a short pass from QB Josh Allen on fourth down and ran 17 yards into the end zone. His second touchdown came on a goal line carry that brought the score to 17-7. The game broke open when Cook broke loose on a one-play, 49-yard touchdown run, bringing the score to 24-7.
"Seems like each week he's getting more comfortable and confident," Allen said of Cook. "You know, he's been begging for some goal line runs, and we gave it to him. He got his touchdown down there, the long one. He found a way on that, the first touchdown in the first quarter there. So can't be more happier for him and more proud of him. And you know, he just continues to make plays for us."
Cook gave credit to the offensive line for his performance.
"Just give kudos to the o-line," Cook said. "You know, they opened up lanes for us to run today, and we did our job and good turnout."
