The Buffalo Bills and Audacy are thrilled to announce the full-time hiring of Chris Brown as the radio play-by-play broadcaster of the Bills.
Brown is now the third full-time play-by-play radio broadcaster in Bills franchise history, joining Van Miller and John Murphy.
"I'd like to thank the Pegula family, Pete Guelli, the Bills organization, and then over at Audacy Buffalo Tim Wenger and Allan Davis," Brown said. "I was fortunate enough to know Van Miller and John Murphy. I worked with them, learned from them. I'm grateful to be trusted with this responsibility going forward."
"This decision made a lot of sense for the Bills and Audacy," Bills COO Pete Guelli said. "Chris has been doing the job at an extremely high level for parts of the past two seasons along with Eric Wood and Sal Capaccio. He has strong institutional knowledge of our team while also understanding the pulse of our fans. We look forward to Chris carrying the torch of the legends this job has produced in Van Miller and John Murphy."
Brown has served as the Bills interim play-by-play radio broadcaster since January 2023, calling 18 regular season games and four postseason games during that span. In addition to his broadcasting role, Brown is a co-host of the weekday radio talk show One Bills Live on WGR550 and is the Bills Insider for the team website.
"Chris is best suited to carry on the long tradition of informative, passionate and entertaining Bills play-by-play announcing," said Tim Wenger, Senior Vice President and Market Manager, Audacy Buffalo. "His decades-long knowledge of the organization and in-depth knowledge of the team will be invaluable as he assumes the play-by-play microphone."
A SUNY Geneseo alum and Bills staff member since 2006, Brown is well-connected to both WNY and the Bills organization.
"I'm fortunate to be taking this seat at a time where the franchise is challenging in the playoffs every year to be the Super Bowl representative for the AFC. That is not lost on me at all," Brown said.
Earlier this year, longtime 'Voice of the Bills' John Murphy stepped away from the position after 35 years. Having worked with Brown for many years, Murphy believes Brown's dedication and passion make him an excellent fit in the broadcast booth.
"I am very happy for Chris," Murphy said. "His knowledge of the team and his enthusiasm is unsurpassed. Bills fans will certainly identify with the way he calls the games and his excitement."
Bills color analyst Eric Wood has worked alongside Brown during the last two seasons and is looking forward to continuing his partnership with Brown.
"I'm excited for him. He does an incredible job, one of the most prepared people I've ever been around," Wood said.
As Brown now turns his attention to preparing to call the 2024 season, his goal is to make each radio broadcast a home for all Bills, wherever they may be listening.
"I'm committed to make it the most enjoyable broadcast for all Bills fans," said Brown. "That's my responsibility now going forward. The work only continues."
Fans can tune in on WGR550 AM radio to hear every Bills game broadcasted live throughout the season.
