It's a busy time at One Bills Drive as the team gears up for the upcoming OTAs. However, that didn't stop Bills Head Coach Sean McDermott and his wife Jamie from visiting young fans at John R. Oishei Children's Hospital on Wednesday, May 15.
Making their rounds, the McDermotts stopped in several rooms at the hospital to spend time with the patients and their family members. Buffalo's sideline boss views the kind gesture as just a minor way that he can make an impact in the community.
"It's the least we can do," said McDermott. "I think it's important that we get out in our community with the platform we're given…Whether it's at the hospital or different areas around Western New York, to take just a minute of our time is small compared to what we're blessed with. To give back to our community and to take time for people who are going through life's challenges right now, I think is important."
As he got to know the children, McDermott was humbled and grateful for the experience.
"It's inspirational…I think I get more out of it than what I give. It's also lends a lot to perspective in terms of what we do and puts things in a good place in terms of priorities. Sometimes in our pressure-packed business, we get things out of line and it's good to just put things back in the right type of order."
