The Buffalo Bills participated in a one-of-a-kind event this week as the team visited 12 local schools for a surprise community initiative. Players and coaches split into groups and went out on a mission to make a unique connection with youths across Western New York school districts.

The Bills visited the following schools on Wednesday participating in activities ranging from garden planting, gymnasium games, Q&A sessions and more:

  • Orchard Park High School
  • Ellicott Elementary School
  • Frontier Middle School
  • Blasdell Elementary School
  • West Elementary School
  • Allendale Elementary School
  • Lackawanna Middle / High School
  • Martin Road Elementary School
  • Hamburg High School
  • Union Pleasant Elementary School
  • Buffalo Public School # 6
  • Waterfront Elementary School

"An organizational idea that we felt was important to make a connection and also make an impact," head coach Sean McDermott said. "And there's different ways that we do that as an organization, this being the most straight-forward way of giving our players an opportunity to get out in the community in local schools to take their helmets off and let these students see them and make that connection."

Bills QB Josh Allen visited Martin Road Elementary, surprising hundreds of students as he walked down the hallways high-fiving them as they cheered. Allen was joined by WR Curtis Samuel, CB Kaiir Elam, RB Ray Davis and more.

Samuel and Elam spent time with 4th and 5th grade students in their outdoor garden and beautification project.

"We talked about football, we helped beautify the garden and we just spent some quality time," Elam said.

Bills OT and last year's Walter Payton Man of the Year Nominee Dion Dawkins stopped by Waterfront Elementary for lawn games and competitions.

"Today was the coolest day," Dawkins said. "We gonna lift this community, we gonna be here for the community."
