The Ralph C. Wilson Foundation has awarded Hunter's Hope with a grant in the amount of $100,000 to fund the 17th Annual Hunter's Hope Family and Medical Symposium, which will be held at the Holiday Valley Resort in Ellicottville, NY this July.

"I have been blessed in so many ways by Mr. Wilson and miss him already," shared Hunter's Hope Co-Founder and former Buffalo Bills Quarterback Jim Kelly. "I'm so proud that a part of his legacy lives on through this continued support of Hunter's Hope. The Symposium is my family's favorite week of the year and does so much to help move us toward accomplishing our Foundation's mission. We're extremely grateful for the Ralph C. Wilson Foundation's generous support for this important program."

Over the past sixteen years, Hunter's Hope and the Kelly family have hosted the world's leading Krabbe and Leukodystrophy experts together with families affected by these same diseases for a week of learning, sharing and fun. This summer, over 60 researchers are anticipated to attend the Medical Symposium, which is organized by the leadership of the Hunter James Kelly Research Institute, for a two-day, roundtable discussion on the latest research findings and newborn screening advancements for Krabbe and similar diseases.

The Foundation also anticipates more than 40 families affected by Krabbe and other Leukodystrophies from around the country will attend the Family Symposium. During this special time, families have the opportunity to learn from the researchers and doctors who attend the Medical Symposium as well as build relationships with other families affected by the same diseases.

"The Ralph C. Wilson Foundation is honored to support the Hunter's Hope 2014 Annual Medical and Family Symposium," shared the Ralph C. Wilson Foundation. "The Kelly Family, through Hunter's Hope, continues to make great strides to positively impact those families affected by Leukodystrophies and we are privileged to be able to help them reach their funding goal for this year's event."

Expenses for each family, including food, lodging, conference fees and all transportation while at the Symposium are paid for by Hunter's Hope. The $100,000 award granted by the Ralph C. Wilson Foundation will fund the majority of the Foundation's costs to host this year's program. Travel arrangements to and from the event are the responsibility of the family. For families unable to cover their travel expenses, the Foundation provides assistance through its 'Hunter's Hope Helping Hand Grant Travel Assistance' program. Through this program, qualified families can receive financial assistance with their travel expenses.
