WNY natives headline the list of tryout players at Bills rookie minicamp | 2024

Buffalo's newest members will hit the practice field for the first time as rookie minicamp is set to begin on Friday. The Bills' 10 drafted players will be joined by 12 undrafted free agents, 26 tryout players and four eligible players on the team's active roster.

Among the 26 trying out are four athletes who played collegiately for the University at Buffalo. Linebacker Joe Andreessen, wide receiver Cole Harrity, kicker Alex McNulty and linebacker Jyaire Stevens will have a chance to join former Bull Cam Lewis on the Bills roster.

Andreessen spent his graduate season playing for the University of Buffalo. He started in all 12 games and registered 90 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, one sack, two passes defensed and one forced fumble in 2023. Prior to UB, the LB spent five seasons at Bryant University. Andreessen earned All-America honors at Bryant after recording a school-record 116 tackles in 2022. He is from Depew, NY.

Harrity played for the Bulls in 2022 and 2023. He appeared in 25 games and totaled 48 receptions, 464 receiving yards and four receiving touchdowns. Harrity also returned 10 kickoffs for 146 yards (14.6 average). Before his time at UB, the receiver played two seasons for New Mexico State University.

McNulty began his collegiate career with the Bulls in 2018. The kicker finished his time with UB as the program's all-time leader in career field goals (60), extra points (189) and points scored (369). He was a perfect 26 of 26 on extra point attempts and made 11 field goals in 2023. During the 2022 season, McNulty earned All-MAC first team after a single-season school record of 24 field goals made. He also became the first UB player to be named MAC Special Teams Player of the Year that season. McNulty is from Caledonia, NY.

Stevens also spent his graduate season at UB. The LB played in 12 games and totaled 25 tackles, four tackles for loss, one sack, two pass breakups and a blocked punt. Before the Bulls, Stevens played for Lafayette College for four seasons.

Buffalo will also have a pro lacrosse player trying out for the team in Zed Williams. A native of Irving, NY, Williams will try out as a linebacker.

The pro lacrosse player entered the Premier Lacrosse League in 2020 via the Entry Draft. Williams has spent the last four seasons with the Maryland Whipsnakes and won a championship in his first year with the team. He also earned first-team All-Pro and MVP honors in 2020. Williams has played in 64 games and racked up 199 points over his PLL career.

He has also played in the National Lacrosse League since 2018 and was drafted by Georgia with the fourth overall pick. Williams has spent the last two seasons with the Colorado Mammoth and won a title with them in 2022. The forward has played in 72 games and registered 199 points over his NLL career. He played collegiately at University of Virginia.
