1. Bills coaching staff earns praise from FOX's Colin Cowherd
Fox Sports' Colin Cowherd has had the Bills in his Herd's Hierarchy several weeks so far this season. Cowherd believes Buffalo has a very talented coaching staff. This week he has the Bills at No. 6.
"They are now 3-0 off the bye with Sean McDermott," Cowherd said. "Very Belichickian, very Sean Payton and Andy Reid. Byes matter more to well-coached teams. They have an 18-game streak of not allowing 400 yards. Tom Brady looked absolutely awful against them. Now there are some limitations offensively, but I will say this when they get into the red zone, they give you sevens not threes. Buffalo at No. 6."
2. Jordan Phillips: We have who we need
Jordan Phillips was a guest on One Bills Live this week to talk about his hot start and his confidence in the team. Phillips leads the team with 4.0 sacks through six games and he attributes the success to the opportunities he has had to start the season.
"The coaches here give me a lot of confidence and I feed off the confidence," Phillips said. "I wouldn't say they are cutting me loose, but they are giving me opportunities and I've been able to take advantage of them."
With the next two weeks at home, Phillips understands just how much the fans play a difference in the game.
"Anytime you can get the fans into it, it's a different ball game," Phillips said. "It takes out the hard count, they have to go on silent and you can get off the ball faster. That just helps the defense out a lot."
The Bills will be facing an Eagles team that's dealing with several injuries, although Phillips says that doesn't change how they face an explosive offense led by Carson Wentz.
"It's about us," Phillips explained. "We dictate everything, and that's our mindset going into it. It doesn't matter who's playing, who isn't playing. We are going to go out there and do what we do."
With the trade deadline approaching, Phillips believes the team has who they need to win.
"Honestly I haven't even thought about it [trade deadline]," Phillips said. "We have who we want in our locker room. We have who we need to win. That's above my pay grade to make those decisions, but at far as I know we're happy. We have who we need."
3. Ed Oliver hosting a coat collection drive at New Era Field on Saturday
Ed Oliver will host the Colvin Cleaners first 'Coats 4 Kids Collection Drive' this Saturday, Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Parking Lot 2 at New Era Field. Coats and winter accessories will be accepted.
"I am not used to cold winters and when everyone told me how cold it gets here, I could not imagine a child or members of their family walking around without a warm coat, gloves, hats, scarves and boots," Oliver said. "We have to make sure every child has a warm coat this winter."
Paul A. Billoni, President and CEO of Colvin Cleaners is encouraging everyone to check their closets for gently used winter coats and accessories or go to a store and purchase some for Saturday's drive. When they arrive at the stadium, turn into One Bills Drive and Lot 2 is to the left. Those donating will not need have to leave their vehicles as volunteers will gladly receive their donation.
