1. NFL.com gives the Bills this top 5 power ranking after free agency
The Bills remain steady at number four in the latest NFL.com Power Rankings. Around the NFL writer Dan Hanzus released his first set of power rankings since the Super Bowl and has the Bills fourth behind the Packers (3), Chiefs (2) and Buccaneers (1).
Rank #4 - Buffalo Bills
Previous rank: No. 4
The Bills have established themselves as a legitimate championship contender, so we liked the move to keep Matt Milano -- a member of the team's defensive core -- on a long-term deal. On offense, Buffalo opted to let John Brown head to Vegas in favor of Emmanuel Sanders, an underrated talent who slots in nicely with Stefon Diggs and Cole Beasley to form a rock-solid wide receiver room. The signing of former No. 2 overall pick Mitch Trubisky represents an upgrade over Matt Barkley at backup QB. Of course, if Trubisky plays meaningful snaps in 2021, you'll know something went terribly wrong.
2. Bills tight end Jacob Hollister excited to play against his twin this season
New Bills tight end Jacob Hollister was in Buffalo on Monday putting pen to paper on his one-year deal with the Bills. Hollister has a twin brother Cody, who is currently a wide receiver for the Tennessee Titans. The brothers both entered the league as undrafted free agents in 2017 and played together for two years with the Patriots. In a press conference with the media on Monday, Hollister mentioned how he is looking forward to playing against his brother when the Bills play the Titans sometime during the 2021 season.
"That's the first thing I saw, honestly, when I looked at the schedule," Hollister said. "That'd be one thing that I always look forward to because we never have had the chance to play against each other. We played together with the Patriots but through college, he was at Arkansas and I was at Wyoming, so we never had the chance to play against each other. So, I'm still waiting for that day and I'm really excited about it."
3. Two moves by the Bills make CBS Sports' list of underrated signings
A week into the official free agency period and the Bills have been able to keep many of their core players that were scheduled to hit the open market. The Bills front office has also made some additions on the offensive side of the ball with the signings of Emmanuel Sanders, Mitchell Trubisky and Jacob Hollister. CBS Sports writer Cody Benjamin came out with his list of the 13 most underrated free agent additions and Sanders along with Trubisky both made his list. Here's what he had to say about both of the Bills signings:
WR Emmanuel Sanders (Bills)
Officially a journeyman at this point in his career, Sanders is as rock-solid as they come. He's not scaring many corners these days, but in Buffalo, as a savvy safety valve for Josh Allen, he makes a ton of sense with Gabriel Davis taking over on the outside.
QB Mitchell Trubisky (Bills)
Say what you want about his Bears tenure, but Trubisky is the perfect backup for Josh Allen: young, mobile and experienced. He offers a lot more upside than Matt Barkley, and he comes at a bargain price. Such a win-win here
