Here's the Bills news of note for June 12th.* *
**1 - Day one interest sold Hyde on Bills
**
Free agency was a busy one for safety Micah Hyde, who previously played on a playoff caliber team in the Green Bay Packers. He ultimately chose to sign with the Buffalo Bills this offseason. Hyde made his presence on the Packers defense last season where he totaled 58 tackles, one sack and three interceptions.
Hyde recently appeared on Bills flagship station WGR Sportsradio 550 to talk with Howard Simon about what his free agency process was like and ultimately why he chose Buffalo.
"I just want to be respected. It goes back even when I was coming out of high school when I was being recruited by Iowa. Since day one they were there and interested in me, respected me for what I could do on the football field and even off the football field. It's kind of the same aspect in free agency. I just want to be respected," Hyde said. "Buffalo was there since day one, showing interest and I loved it. I talked to my agent before the free agency process and I said that I wanted to go somewhere that I will play and also I want good coaching and to be respected. I can't think of a better place than Buffalo."
The Packers have made the playoffs the last six years in a row and while Buffalo hasn't made an appearance in 17 years, that doesn't faze Micah Hyde. He has his reasons for wanting to join the Bills.
"Sean McDermott, man. This guy is on a mission," said Hyde. "The first conversation that I had with him, I could see it. I could really see it. I wasn't a part of that the last 17 years, a lot of the guys on this team weren't apart of the last 17 years. So, when we talk about playoffs, I'm not thinking, 'Aw we haven't made it in 17 years,' I'm thinking, 'Lets do it.' We're ready to get back to the playoffs and have that long historical season."
2 - LeSean McCoy is the lone Bill on CBS Sports top 100
Pete Prisco of CBS sports recently ranked the top 100 players in the NFL. The Buffalo Bills had one player who appeared in the rankings and that was running back Lesean McCoy. It's no surprise that the two time All-Pro running back made an appearance on the list but here is where you can find the full ranking. Shady came in at No. 65.
McCoy was the lead back to the NFL's highest rushing team last season. He played in 15 games and finished with 1,267 yards with 13 touchdowns on the ground. Not to mention, he was able to add 50 receptions. His dual threat ability was well known last year. The highly touted running back has also earned Pro Bowl honors the last four seasons and will hope to continue that trend in 2017.* *
3 - ESPN ranks Rashad Ross as fastest player on Bills roster
The Buffalo Bills recently signed wide receiver, Rashad Ross, for a chance to compete on the roster. Ross went undrafted and since then has bounced around to a couple of teams. He has displayed his talents mostly on the special teams unit where he returns kicks. There is a certain trait that makes him stick out and here is what ESPN.com had to say about the returner:
*Until this past Tuesday, the Bills' fastest player was WR Kolby Listenbee, who ran a 4.39-second 40-yard dash before being drafted in the sixth round by Buffalo in 2016. But hernia surgery prevented Listenbee from ever practicing with the Bills, and they waived him Tuesday to sign Ross. Nicknamed "The Rocket," Ross ran a 4.36-second 40 at his 2013 pro day and clocked the league's fastest play in 2015 by reaching 21.5 mph on a 101-yard kick return for the Washington Redskins. *
