1 - Eddie Yarbrough discusses Josh AllenIt wasn't long ago that Bills defensive end Eddie Yarbrough was a teammate of the Bills newest quarterback, Josh[Allen at Wyoming. Now the two will be reunited at One Bills Drive in a couple of weeks. Yarbrough joined One Bills Live to talk about the kind of guy the Bills are bringing to their locker room.
"He's just a guys, guy. Everybody wanted to be around him," said Yarbrough. "People just like to gravitate towards him in a sense. Josh is just one of those guys. A face, a look. He just keeps things light."
And not only is Allen a good player for the locker room, Allen is trusted on the field by Yarbrough. Even though some people question Allen's accuracy, the Bills DE had some high praise for his fellow former Cowboy.
"He is such a gamer. So, in practice, any time he is competing he just elevates. Every time he puts the pads on and we're playing football, I wouldn't want to have anybody else as my quarterback."
Yarbrough knows that Allen is athletic with a powerful arm, and quick feet. Now in a few weeks' time, they will be back to their old habits following the rookie minicamp and OTAs begin in mid-May.
*2 - NFL Network compliments Bills draft haul *Analysts are still analyzing teams' draft hauls, and the NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks had some big compliments for what Brandon Beane and company brought to the roster last weekend.
"Originally, I worried about Josh Allen thinking, 'Can he get it done?'" said Brooks. "Then, when I look at the overall haul the Buffalo Bills got, it is perfect. You got you're quarterback that you wanted, and you get Tremaine Edmunds, you get Harrison Phillips, all blue-collar people. I love what they did in Buffalo. This fits the composition of their locker room."
Jeremiah also went as far as to put a gift emoji over Edmunds for a player of his caliber falling to the Bills at 16. Many analysts had Edmunds going in the top 10 picks of the draft.
"That was gift wrapped to them, to get Tremaine Edmunds where they got him," said Jeremiah.
Now, the Bills will be looking for their draft class to compete and make tough decisions for the coaching staff and the front office.
3 - Allen a top 10 offseason additionThe NFL ranked the top offseason additions for the entire league, and only two of those additions were through the draft. At nine, NFL.com ranked Josh Allen as the greatest quarterback addition through the draft.
The seventh overall pick in the draft has tremendous upside and the arm to throw through the elements in Buffalo. When ranking Allen here, I'm looking more at the coaching staff and how they're going to set Allen up to succeed. The rookie has a legit chance to be the first starter of any quarterback in this draft class, and he could turn this franchise around for the long term. But he'll need to be put in the right situations and learn quickly.
This speaks to the job that Brandon Beane is doing in his first year as the Bills GM. The only other QBs on the list were Case Keenum and Kirk Cousins at one and two, and the only other draft pick was Saquon Barkley, the highest rated player in the 2018 draft, at five.
Allen will be competing with Nathan Peterman and A.J McCarron for the starting job this offseason. Something that the NFL and Bills fans are sure to keep a close eye on.
