Josh Allen and the offense is getting the bulk of the attention in Buffalo this season, but the defense has carried on being quietly impressive and underrated. One of the most underrated members is safety Jordan Poyer. The way Buffalo deploys their safeties, Poyer has lined up all over the secondary, both in deep coverage and closer to the box as well as covering the slot against certain matchups when required. He has been excellent in any of those areas, racking up eight defensive stops in four games and forcing a key fumble against the Jets in Week 1.
2. Allen: "We trust the guys in this locker room to do the right thing
In the NFL, the teams that are adaptable are going to have success and that is especially true regarding the 2020 season. The Bills are trying to conduct business as usual and practice like there is a game unless they are told otherwise. Josh Allen touched on how important it is for the guys in the locker room to hold each other accountable during this unprecedented season.
"It takes one guy to go to the grocery store and it's as simple as that sometimes," Allen said. "You don't ever suspect anybody to have it in the facility, but you've got to hope that guys are wearing their masks and hope the contact tracers are working. If guys are feeling down and they're not feeling right like we had. A player wasn't feeling great today, he told everybody, and he was good to go. But just holding each other accountable to that standard where if you are feeling something, tell somebody and make sure that you're getting out in front of it. That's one of the big reasons we've been okay with what's going on right now because we are accountable. We trust the guys in this locker room to do the right thing."
