The 2022 NFL season and Super Bowl LVII predictions are in. The Buffalo Bills are the favorites to win the Super Bowl on a lot of analysts' lists and quarterback Josh Allen is favored to capture MVP honors. Here's what NFL analysts are saying ...
NFL analysts rank the Bills No. 1 for winning Super Bowl LVII with potential opponents to be the Green Bay Packers, San Francisco 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles, Los Angeles Rams, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. But regardless of the opponent, 12 analysts predict that the Bills will be the team to hoist the Lombardi Trophy in February.
Bills over Packers: Aaron Rodgers finally gets Green Bay over the NFC title game hump, but Josh Allen proves to be too much to handle. The Bills end all their franchise frustration. – Jeffri Chadiha, senior writer for NFL.com
Bills over 49ers: The 49ers attempt to join the Six Lombardi Club; instead, the Bills win their first, capping a magical season led by Coach of the Year Sean McDermott and league MVP Josh Allen. – Steve Mariucci, NFL Network Analyst
Bills over Rams: What better way to start and end the season than with these same two teams. The defending champs take on the squad everyone feels is primed to make a title run, and the young gunslinger outduels the vet for the trophy. – Kurt Warner, NFL Network Analyst
Bills over Eagles: It's time for Buffalonians to finally experience something other than Heartbreak on Super Bowl Sunday, and this season is it. – Jim Trotter, NFL Writer
Bills over Buccaneers: For decades, Tom Brady lorded over the AFC East with an iron fist. Now it's Josh Allen's turn to rule – not just his division but the whole of the football world. – Dan Hanzus, Around the NFL writer
After seeing the potential that the Bills had to win it all last year, NBC sportswriter Peter King is picking Buffalo to win their first Super Bowl in franchise history this season over the Green Bay Packers. King also predicts the Bills will finish the season 13-4 and Josh Allen will win MVP.
"Offensively, with Stefon Diggs aided by solid number two receiver Gabriel Davis (two playoff games, five touchdown catches) and shifty Isaiah McKenzie installed in the slot, Allen's got enough firepower to be the best version of himself." – King
"Whoever makes it out of the NFC, Buffalo is ridiculously formidable. Lots can change in five months, but Buffalo's got the best roster in football. Including the most dangerous quarterback." – King
NFL writer and analyst Matt Bowen's bold prediction for the 2022 season is that the Bills will win Super Bowl LVII after he saw the team get stronger in free agency and the 2022 draft.
"With one of the league's most explosive -- and quarterback-centric -- offenses, Allen and the Bills will be there in February. However, it's the fundamentally sound defense -- with three levels of playmakers, including new offseason addition Von Miller -- that will close out games for Buffalo on the postseason stage." –Bowen
Sports Illustrated reporter Albert Breer predicts that MVP Josh Allen will lead the Bills to victory over the Green Bay Packers 27-27 in Super Bowl LVII.
"Sometimes, the chalk picks are the right ones – and what I saw in Rochester, N.Y. on my training camp tour stuck with me. The look the Bills had in the way they practiced wasn't unlike how I remember the 2007 Patriots or the '13 Seahawks looking in the summer, where it was clear how deep and competitive those rosters were, and how machine-like their practices became. So you can call down the ghosts of Scott Norwood, Don Beebe, and Thurman Thomas from past Super Bowls, because my feeling is these Bills are going to – finally, all these years later – deliver an elite team that delivers in its final act." – Breer
CBS Sports senior writer Pete Prisco believes that this is the year for the Bills to win their first Super Bowl title. After speaking with Josh Allen this summer, Prisco could sense the confidence in Allen and the confidence the quarterback has in his team.
"A Packers-Bills Super Bowl might not be the big-market gem the NFL usually craves, but it would bring a lot of intrigue, the young-gun passer in Allen against that defense and the future Hall of Fame player in Rodgers on the other side. Bills will win it. For their sake, let's hope they spent this offseason working on their pooch and mortar kicks to make sure 13 seconds never happens again." – Prisco
While NFL analysts predicted that the Bills are going to take the Super Bowl title this season, they also predicted that Josh Allen and head coach Sean McDermott will receive season awards.
"He's (Allen) coming off a 4,407-yard, 36-touchdown passing season, was the Bills' second-leading rusher (763 yards) and entered a different orbit during the playoffs, shredding a Bill Belichick defense and going toe-to-toe with Patrick Mahomes in a postseason epic. With even more weapons at his disposal (the emergent Isaiah McKenzie, for one), Allen is poised to get the only things that have eluded him so far in his career: an MVP trophy and a Super Bowl ring." – Judy Battista, writer for NFL.com
"McDermott probably should've already won this award, having led the Bills to the playoffs in four of his five seasons as head coach. With all eyes on his team after its crushing playoff exit a season ago, McDermott leads Buffalo to another fantastic season in 2022 and finally gets the recognition he deserves for helping turn this franchise around." – Mariucci
