2. Jones vs. White lands here on Bleacher Report's list of top WR/CB matchups for 2021 season
There are a handful of star wide receivers that Bills will face this season and one of them is Falcons All-Pro Julio Jones. Bleacher Report NFL writer Chris Roling ranked the top wide receiver/cornerback matchups for this upcoming season. Roling had the Jones vs White matchup at number three on his list. The two players have only faced off against each other once and in that game Jones was held to three receptions for 30 yards and White had three tackles, one pass break up and a fumble return touchdown.
#3. Week 17: Julio Jones vs. Tre'Davious White
The Week 17 throwdown between Jones and Tre'Davious White is a great example of a rare matchup.
In 2017, after the Buffalo Bills made him a first-round pick, White was vocal about how much he looked forward to lining up across from the Atlanta Falcons star, telling the team's official site, "Julio's a guy I watched when I was in high school, so to be able to go against him, it's going to be a big-time deal and something that I've waited for."
And the rookie made good on his talk, helping to hold Jones to three catches for 30 yards. Maybe Jones doesn't specifically recall that, considering he still put up 1,444 yards that season and is just focusing on getting back 100 percent. But he's still got a major task in front of him against White, who only allowed 454 receiving yards last season over 14 games.
Since the two might not see each other much again after this rematch, it's one to mark down on the calendar.
3. ESPN analysts have these two Bills games circled on their calendars
According to NFL Media Research, the Bills have the 10th easiest strength of schedule (.478) for the 2021 season. When the schedule was released last Wednesday, the NFL writers and analysts over at ESPN answered many questions about the upcoming season's slate of games including the key matchups they have circled. NFL writer Jeremy Fowler and NFL analyst Matt Bowen both picked one Bills game that they are excited to see unfold this season and explained why.
Jeremy Fowler, national NFL writer:Bills at Chiefs, Week 5. Buffalo's dream 2020 season fizzled quickly with a shaky performance against Kansas City in the AFC title game. This rematch should be tighter, with the Bills eager to take the proverbial next step. And by Week 5, Kansas City's reimagined offensive line should be in full swing.
Matt Bowen, NFL analyst:Bills at Patriots, Week 16. I really like the roster upgrades New England made this offseason through free agency and the draft. There are scheme-specific players there. And this matchup in Week 16 against Buffalo could have major implications in both playoff seeding and the AFC East race.
